“ My 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren ate here on December 28, on our way from South Georgia to South Carolina, and this was the best country restaurant food we have ever had!!! The fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, black eyed peas, lima beans, and sweet potatoes were excellent. They have a small cafeteria, so you can get your food quickly, and see what it is before you get it. Earlier on our trip it took 2 hours to eat at 2 other restaurants, but not here! The restaurant appears unassuming on the outside, because it was apparently originally a gas station, but the interior had very nice tables and decor. The people working there were friendly and good natured. We ate at 330 PM on a Saturday, and even then, there were 4 or 5 tables of well to do, probably local people also eating. There is not much parking directly at the restaurant, but plenty of parallel parking around the street corner. If you like good country food, eat here sometime! ”
“ We got takeout. The turkey and dressing were phenomenal, as always. We had several sides as well and they were all rather tasty. Good serving size. More than enough! ”
“ My wife and I travel from Athens to Savannah at least once a year, and somehow we find ourselves in Wrens as a halfway point. We normally get here early enough for breakfast, but since it was a Friday evening, we decided to try dinner here. The staff are wonderful as always Its so cute watching everyone interact with the staff, since everyone knows each other and that chicken was AWESOMEE!! Normally its hard to nail chicken breast because it dries out fast, but the breast was M O I S T. For a half chicken and a BLT with fries totaled 16, so not bad at all! ”
“ They never stop working, constantly refilling the HOT bar. Expect to wait in line out the door if you to order from the hot bar that starts at 11 am sharp. Fried chicken is off the chain, pork chops , turkey , stuffing, macaroni and cheese, field peas , sweet potatoes, rice , gravy greens, homemade corn bread, homemade biscuits, butter beans, and chicken and dumplings, and more. You can order off the menu SWEET TEA, COFFEE , COKE PRODUCTS AND OTHER DRINKS. ”
“ Driving through town on our way back home to north Georgia, needed gas and decided to grab a bite. Looked to see what restaurants this small town had. Saw Peggys and clicked on the photos. I knew this was going to be delicious... and it did not disappoint. Best fried chicken Ive had in a long time. Great service everyone was so friendly. Why would anyone eat anywhere else in town when they could eat here? The prices were very reasonable. We ordered small plates but there was so much food on them, it didnt seem possible that they were small plates. A meat, three sides, bread and a drink for 11 a plate. IMPRESSIVE!!! Sorry I didnt take pictures. We gobbled our food up before thinking about it. Yep. It was that good. ”
“ So goooooood, this place has a nice small feel and the food is amazing and affordable. Breakfast is great as well. We will definitely be back as frequently as we can. ”
“ You cannot beat the food at Peggys. Ive eaten at country cooking restaurants all my life, all across the south...this is the best of the best. The fried chicken is perfection. Black eyed peas are my favorite vegetable, but they are all good. Just had their turkey and dressing with gravy for the first time today, and it was delicious, of course. Your only dilemma will be having to choose between delicious and even more delicious. ”
“ I always attempt to call my order in, most of the time I just pull up. Its always people eating in the dining area. Plenty of traffic at the steam table. I love having the option to dine in or take out. If youre in a rush the steam table will get you in and out. My GO TO order is the fried gizzard combo. It comes with fries and a drink. Get the Lemonade its the bomb I keep forgetting to take a picture. Ill get one next time. The only thing struggle is the small parking lot Hopefully you can park close then walk over. ”
